Hello, it's difficult to find answers online so just going to post here in the hope someone can help .. these may be pretty stupid questions :o

I've got flights booked to return to Ireland at the end of May, on the route no flights are currently flying but they are selling flights from 8th May (Ryanair).

We were meant to be staying with my family but that's not possible due to Covid so I was wondering If the flight does go ahead, could we book into a hotel for a week and then we could at least have a socially distant visit to family/friends?

Highly unlikely. As far as I know no hotels are open at the moment, can't see that changing in next month. But who knows?

It's possible to book a hotel on booking.com still

If you do book a hotel, make sure it's a fully refundable rate if you need to cancel at short notice. It's doubtful that hotels will be open for business by the end of May though tbh...

I wonder would a holiday home or mobile home be an option? Thanks for the replies.

Not supposed to be open as things stand.

    Mobile home sites are closed.

    Might get something on AnB.

Also you should isolate for two weeks to ensure you don't have the virus after coming off the plane.

So you will need to get shopping delivered to your accommodation.

Air bnb for that. Hotels are closed. No money to keep them open

The government is bringing in a requirement for 14 day self quarantine, which means you won’t have the option to visit family and friends, even with social distancing. You should also look at the requirements when you travel back, I know some European countries are also bringing in quarantine period for people flying in.

Travelling for family visits isn’t going to be practical for sometime I’m afraid.

Heard this morning on newstalk that they're hopefully looking at letting people holiday in Ireland by the end of the summer, more will be outlined this weekend when the "plan to normality" is released!

So it seems, limited occupancy of course.

I think (hope) the first flights will be to repatriate people stuck in countries other than their home.
I know Latvia say they might open their borders May 12th, but I wouldn't be very confident of that.
