Hi I filled my 2004 1.4 d4d toyota Corolla up to the brim last week , the fuel needle hasn't budged from the top , I have done about 60-80 km since then. What could be the issue ? (I know they are good on juice but not that good) :)

60kms isn't a lot. I'd leave it for another while and do more mileage

That's normal, I can drive my 2.0 litre petrol over 100km before the needle moves from full. Its normal, once it starts moving, it move much quicker. The needle is only an indicator, its grossly innacurate. You'll find that in many cars you get considerably more mileage from full to half way on the guage than you get from half way to empty. Like I said its only a rough indicator.

    I don't think it's inaccurate, just intentionally non-linear ;)

They're designed to emphasise the lower levels as they don't want you running out of fuel, so you'll see little (or no) variation for the first few litres. And of course, it'll show it's empty long before the tank is actually empty.

I can get 200 miles (320 kms!) on my accord before the needle starts to drop.

Do another 100 miles and come back to us OP

Yeah, it's probably nothing. Most needles won't budge for a long time and then suddenly they drop fast.

Toyota needles don’t do anything at the top end for ages. The last half goes a lot quicker.

I often joke that Toyotas and VW's have V shaped fuel tanks. As previously said they do not budge for ages and then drop like stone.

Mine would drop from full to near empty by then

To me it make sense the needle doesnt move for 50 to 100 miles.
A lot of people when they fill their tank they fill it full up to the neck
The neck would take a couple of litres . Which is above the max level.
