Applying for work in UK - Remote?

Hello, am looking for work but having no luck so far with my industry. There are plenty of jobs in the UK in this industry but I have no plans to leave Ireland right now during COVID-19. To my question, is it reasonable to ask, before applying, if the role could be completed remotely for the moment? I don't want to waste my own, or the prospective employer's, time. Thanks.

Depends completely on the sector and role, if you are a senior specialist in an area that is conducive remote, then it's highly possible. But if its a job that they could easily source staff themselves in the UK, then why would they want the hassle of someone in Ireland?
