    Hi BOI
Would having to employ a full time childminder for a few months count as a legitimate reason to avail of the Covid-19 mortgage break? I know I can call the helpline and ask etc but thought it may be a useful question for others given that it's not clear any great changes will be made on 5th May. For us, it would mean that yes we could temporarily only afford to pay maybe half our mortgage if we paid a childminder the going rate but it would not be forever, just until September. (the alternative would be probably one of us would lose our job, even worse!)

    Hi maxsmum,

Thanks for contacting us here and hope you’re well.

Yes, as you’re being impacted by COVID-19 you can apply for a mortgage payment break for this reason. We’ve an online application here which also links to a detailed FAQ.

If we can help with anything else please let us know and take care of yourself and your family.

    Thanks
    Tara
