Has anyone actually got one or actually planning to pick one up at or or is the lack of Google killing it

I'm not interested in it for the price they're asking
I've no problem installing the app store to fire tablets but they're cheap devices.
If Huawei are charging full whack, they need to deliver the full service.

Pointless phone without google services imo.

So what's the feedback on this? Now that it's been out a while... Has the lack of Google killed it

There was nothing to kill. It was DOA anywhere outside of China. Huawei will never sell them dirt cheap outside of China to make up for lack of Google services. They're currently working on Harmony OS which is meant to be what Android once tried to become, hardware agnostic and used on everything from fridges to tvs. It's a long way off being ready and in the meantime they'll keep putting out phones with Android minus google services in the hopes that Trump might get ousted this year and be replaced by a less anti-Huawei administration

Google is working mostly fine on it now its 'added'.

What does "mostly fine" mean? :)
    Was it hard to do?

My P20 Pro is due for upgrade in August. I think I'm going to go for a P30 Pro for the next one.

I cant get a work email app to work as it wants to verify with their app store link which is causing it to glitch and im not clever enough to fix it.

Other than that ive got google maps, play store and all that stuff working fine all done via a yt video in about an hour. Some apps need to be reinstalled from when they were cloned over from my old device but yeah it seems like normal.

Too much hassle for your average punter (like myself)…. shame as the camera is supposed to be unreal.

Have you tried Nine or boxer?

I used to keep installing Nine every two weeks but have had boxer for more than a month and it's pretty good

Are they email clients? its a specific work email app that has to be validated thru our servers so its secure yadda yadda. I may have another option so its not a issue.

Need to replace the GOAT smartphone aka P20 pro, can anyone recommend upgrading to the P40 pro? Is it a pain in the ar*se without Google services?

A surprising lot of apps works fine on it, the petal gallery which searches for replacement apps is clever. Biggest drawback is the lack of a payment app. Huawei payb is not available in Ireland yet. Tom Tom is far superior to Google maps and the email client isn't bad.

It's super fast 5G works a dream and the camera is amazing.

Do your homework though as it's not just Google apps affected. Many third party apps are programmed to get their updates or location from Google store/maps and throw a wobbly when they can't access them. Overall I took a punt as I loved the P20 Pro and I'm very happy with the P40.

If you have key apps you need, go to a store and play with one, try downloading from the Huawei or petal store before you buy.
