From the WADI site on FB

    ANNOUNCEMENT
Coillte have advised the WDAI that it is in the early development of a new online platform for the reporting, making payments, uploading documents etc for hunters licensed to hunt on Coillte property.

This platform is already use in other European countries. It is expected that hunters will access the platform through an online portal such as your phone, tablet or PC to carry out these functions themselves that would normally have had to completed through their local Coillte office such as making payments, advising cull returns, uploading insurance and other required documents, giving notice to Coillte when hunting on their properties.

This information will then be used to record deer sightings / numbers and be used for deer management planning in specific regions.
    Stay safe
    WDAI Team

And remember back a few years ago when there was a questionare included in the deer liscense renewals???:rolleyes:
Also like to know ...which EU countries have this???And how well did it work for them???

There's no requirement to return cull numbers for the French system.

I don't think thier looking for geo tagging your kills at the moment. I'm thinking its just a simple portal that will replace the current paper trail that is in place.

So if I remember correctly, after you have secured your lease, paper application and sent in your money (previously a cheque), a list of nominations and thier insurance details then your individual paper permits/ licences are issued. You are required to carry these with you. Then at the end date of the permit, which by the way always ends on the 28th of Feb regardless you have to make your returns again via a paper form.

So a simple digital system may replace the paper one and reduce the cost of postage.

In regards to cull returns, well all I can say is 'paper never refuses ink' (in this case keystrokes) and as with many of the various forms that are returned in our daily life relay on good faith as to the validity of the information contained within.
