Can anyone identify these 2 pipes?

I have 2 pipes coming out of my soffitts, and don't know what they are.

The white one to the left is some sort of overflow from water tank, as in the past when we had the stove blazing too hot it would often have water coming out of it.

But can't work out what the 2 black ones are. I have tried overflows in 2 sinks upstairs, but it's not them.

Fyi, there are 2 ensuite upstairs.

I'm thinking the black ones are the overflow from the main water tank in your attic

    Ok.

Would there be 2 from the one tank?

You might have a header tank also, (one for the rads)

they are the exact same dimensions as what runs from my tank..way to find out is go to your tank and hold up the stckcock...when it starts to over fill the water will run out the over run pipe.

You might have a wasp's nest up there, be careful!

    That's what I'm afraid of.

I might have to post in the nature forum, but does anyone know the time of year for them to be building a nest?

I have been watching the holes around the 2 black pipes, and I have only seen one coming out of it. None going in. I did spray it liberally with fly and wasp killer, a couple of times over the space of an hour.

We then watched for ages and nothing. Then a single wasp entered one of the air vents in the soffitt maybe 15ft away from the pipes. So obviously another access point.

Would it be safe to climb into my crawl space and have a look?

Nest building starts now. Could be the queen you are seeing going in and out starting the nest.

Well hopefully all the wasp killer spray might stop the nest building in its tracks?

I'd be tempted to tape up the vents for the summer ? Any issue with that?

Going to see if local store allowed to sell nest killer powder.

A wasp nest starts out very small so if you wanted to brave it you could check for it and just remove it by popping it in a jar or something. I did that when a queen starting building in our shed. It was only golf ball size at that stage

On seeing a cable beside the small black pipe, perhaps it was meant to be for running a cable through (for satellite etc)?
