    what engine?

I have a 1.6 tdi with about 370,000km on the clock .. averaging around 60mpg and to date I've had very little work done on it:

    Timing belt and pump
new discs all round (just the once)
Front Bi-xenon bulb replaced about 50k ago (about €300 to replace!!!)
    rear bump stops

It has been serviced on the button and is still on the original battery.

I couldn't fault it and will hold on to it as a second car for as long as it keeps going.

No fairly bullet proof, unless flogged to death ,I'd be suspicious big time if there wasn't serious mirage on it,many owners?

I’d be apprehensive of 1.6 that have had the emissions fix.

I’d also make sure everything actually works. The brother has a 2.0 Elegance and a lot of small non essential stuff isn’t working right.

Known to leak, check carpets for signs- comes in via blocked drains. I had one that needed a gearbox casing when clutch failed and this happened somebody else too. Overall great car but you need the 2.0

I've a 2010 2.0 140bhp. Won't set the world on fire but big, comfy, economical (50ish mpg??) and OK reliability wise given its 195k mile or 313k kms on it.

Issues I have had EGR valve (UK import and shortly after bringing it in), rear shocks, side airbag error - break in sensor cable, drivers door central locking (another cable break). Front right wheel bearing now making noise so both will get replaced. Also some leds in dash cluster have failed which seems like a common skoda feature. Otherwise just the regular oil, filters, pads and discs.

I'll keep it until it dies as makes no sense to change it as its a utilitarian workhorse in my eyes and I'd buy another one.

    It’s still a bit overpriced.

I know nothing about cars should I keep away from this one, it looked like good milage and spec.

I wouldn’t pay that money for it .. but if the service history checks out and you have someone look over it go for it but don’t pay sticker price.

Mine will be around for a good while longer as it’s a workhorse .. can carry most loads in relative comfort.

Lovely motor though, and obviously comes with a warranty ,how much overpriced is it, mileage low, looks lovely, only thing I'd be worried about is 2 owner's

You might be able to get a 2.0 144bhp Passat estate at that year at a similar price...

A bit more punch and you'll 55 miles to the gallon, although the dual flywheel clutch can be an issue in those Passat's

2 friends with passats who got rid of them sharpish, one only had it for 3 weeks, nothing but problems, yet loads of ppl live them , think you'd need to be unlucky nowadays,or totally clueless to end up with a lemon

I had 2 different skoda models and honestly found them uber reliable,a Felicia I bought for nothing e599ans a cracker fabia ( money tight at the time)
Would have held the fabia bit for it wasn't automatic and without air con

I reckon you’d want to be paying €8k max from a dealer.

I wouldn’t worry about the 2 owners (if it’s uk imports there’s at least one more too ) on a 2012 car

I’d seriously consider an early mk3 Octavia too, the technology is far ahead of the MK2 Superb, plus you have the up to date MQB weight saving and non-dieselgate engines

Size wise there’s not a lot in them, width is the same, but Superb has more legroom in the back.

Nice alright, but personally I'd prefer automatic - was looking at a rapid last year before o went back to another Honda insight, good spec on the rapid minus the air con, you'd think all cars under 6,/7 years old would have it

Any oil sludge issues with this model?

Rapid was a budget car. Even so, a lot of basic trim of car models didn’t and still don’t have standard aircon.
