Newly Reseeded ground & Photosensitises in cattle

Last year photosensitise sparked up on a few cattle. I did not pay much heed to it treated and cattle and they were fine. This year I let the cows and calf’s out of the shed on a first grazing of a newly reseeded field 2 out 20 showed definite photosensitise flair up, scabs on there nose there teats would get bloody and very score. Another five showed symptoms of it. I have since moved them onto old grass on other paddocks and they all are improving. When I think back last year the exact same thing happened on a newly reseeded field. It does not make sense what am I missing. All of this land is in the one block the fields are side by side reseeded old pasture. All get the exact same fertiliser lime etc.

I had 2 cows here over the years that got it. Both aged cows. A weakened liver seems to be a contributing factor. Have you done them for fluke?
Are they any unusual weeds in the field? St. Johns Worth causes it.

Hi patsy thanks for the feed back. Yes it hits all my older cows and it is definitely liver related. The fields are fairly weed free as they are newly reseeded. There is no Saint John worth in it but it possible three is rag worth in spots around the edges. But they were or long enough in the. This sparks in two to three days
