honeymoon in Ireland instead of abroad...

Hi, I hope everyone is safe and well in these challenging times!

I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for taking a mini version of a honeymoon in Ireland. We got married late 2019 with the aim of going on a delayed honeymoon abroad next month but obviously that's not going to happen now.

so now we are thinking of a delayed honeymoon around Ireland early in Spring 2021 (all going well with Covid19 of course) . Does anyone have any ideas for where would be nice to go at that time of year?

We are planning on going away for 2 weeks & we don't want to pack in too much into the trip as we would prefer it to be a relaxing time. Maybe a week around Ring of Kerry and a week in Galway (Cliffs of Moher etc) ? I've been looking at these guys for ideas for itinerary ideas only as we would prefer to do our own thing (https://www.discoveringireland.com/selfdrive-vacations/ ) Any ideas would more than welcome & thanks in advance!

I would say you will be fine to go abroad by Spring of 2021 if you wanted to.

But if you dont then 2 weeks would be enough time to cover pretty much all of the wild Atlantic Way from west Cork up to Donegal and even along the northern Irish coast. Early spring weather though is another thing, on a bad patch in Feb/March it could be raining a lot on the west coast with winds that would go through you so bear that in mind. I dont think I would risk such a trip at that time of year for fear of facing into day after day of rain and grey skies, it puts a downer on any holiday IMO.

Probably hold off and see what the lay of the land is in six months time. If it has to be early Spring then there might be warmer places open to you then.

I would possibly agree with the above post and wait a couple of months to see the "lay of the land" and how things go before booking. You could easily book somewhere fab like Ashford Castle at the last minute or you'd never know by Spring / Summer 2021 somewhere warmer could be an option. By booking too early you might limit your options.
