Need to buy a tablet, preferably with a decent bit of storage, 64gb maybe? Doesn't need to be a big brand name, I'm looking at Huawei at the moment, have Xaomi have anything?

Not a huge budget as it will be mainly for my kids doing schoolwork but needs to be responsive

This is a good option, £124 for a 32GB tablet with expandable storage upto 128GB.

if you can stretch to it this is a decent bit more powerful / responsive in terms of the cpu (2.5 to 3 times on benchmark tests)

the cpu in the T3 is pretty low rent really for 2020 apps

it also has a better screen, bigger battery and more storage

    50£ more

64gb storage but also expandable but internal storage is faster and generally better than using a micro sd card

In android landscape you have cheap xiaomi or expensive Samsung models to choose from.

The best Android tablets of 2020: which should you buy?

Android tablets are kind of old tech at this stage, even google has stopped making them.

I have been holding off upgrading my Nexus 9 tablet for well over a year now.

Looking for something worth getting. Been waiting for this since CES2020. Due out next month.

Reddit thread resulted in above link listing. Price in Euro (€299 ~ 64GB / +100 est for 128GB)

I've actually come to the same conclusion myself. I need a new one but just can't see any Android ones that appeal to me. And although I like Apples hardware, I just never took to their OS. When my wife/kids ask me to do something with their phones I'm always reminded how much I hate it.

It's looking like I'll be heading down the Windows road, but the limitation there is the size of the tablet, they tend to be bigger.

I've got a three year old Galaxy Tab A, and it's working well, newer ones aren't appealing as they're full of bloatware but Apple's iPads aren't user friendly. I've had a lot of relatives and friends encounter problems with their iPads.

I'm moving off a 4 year old Lenovo Yoga 2. Pretty good at the time but it's an absolute dog now, I don't even bother using it as it's a frustrating experience.

The problem with Android is that bloatware added with updates ruins the device experience overall.

Many tend not to be too bad, there's nothing on the Lenovo, Samsung used to be pretty bad with their own skin, not sure if they still are.

My one came preinstalled with bloatware but the updates I received didn't impact my tablet's battery life or usability in a negative way.

Hijacking this thread as i'm in the same boat, my sons levono is running really slow so need an upgrade. Whats the deal with Huawei and google now, can you still get all the same apps or is there an issue with their partnership due to the US trade ban?

At the moment, you can get all the same apps, not sure if it will be like that in the near future.

recently released devices like for example the Huawei P40 don't come with google apps or the play store but there are ways of getting around this - not that complicated even for the average user - just consult youtube (on another device or through the browser version!)

Yeah, some of the newer devices are missing apps and as you're saying,it's easy to pretty much get any app you want on Android devices if you know of other ways.

Thanks for all the responses, it's been extremely helpful. I'm thinking of just getting another laptop altogether, might be more suitable longterm anyway

If you're going for a laptop, don't go for a low range one, most of the time they're not worth it.

Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 10-Inch Tablet - Huawei Kirin 659, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB HDD gone up to £199 (was 189) on Amazon , Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite 10-Inch Tablet - Huawei Kirin 659, 4GB RAM, 64GB HDD gone up to £269

The 4gb ram version had been on offer at 229 but OOS, still OOS but price gone up nicely
The 3gb version apparently has a discount of 70 pounds off, placing it at the same price as the 4gb version lol, got to love these inflated prices ,was looking for a new tablet (his Kindle fire is on its last legs) for the sons birthday in 2 weeks but haven't seen anything decent for a 10" tablet in stock and worth the money
