Why are tits obsessed with my cars?

Over the last couple of weeks, little blue tits have spent a lot of their time sitting on my car mirrors and seemingly bashing themselves against the window glass.

At first I just assumed they were trying to get at spiders that were hiding behind the wing mirrors, but they left so much poo on my car that I started to cover the mirrors with shopping bags.

However they still show up and spend their time either sitting on the mirrors or darting back and forth up against the side windows.

I have watched them for a while and they don't seem to be trying to pick at anything, just seem to be hitting against the windows now.

Any ideas how to stop them?

This is the 1st year I have ever noticed this.

is it a fiat BRAvo?

I've seen cars with what looks like a sun shade that appears to be on the outside of the window, like a mesh cloth type material, maybe stick one on each window so there is no reflection.

It's the reflection in the glass. They can be very territorial, esp. at this time of year i.e. nesting time, so they think they're fighting off intruders into their territory. It'll drop off later on in the year.

That explains it all.
I watched one today at the car and I had a carrier bag over the wing mirrors, yet it still bashed against the windows....Over and over.

So it's simply seeing another bird and trying to fight it?

Yes, that's it in a nutshell. Give it another 4 weeks or so and it should stop when the young have fledged.
