What are the chances of Airbnb extending their extenuating circumstances cancellation

I've an Airbnb reservation in July (in Ireland but I live abroad).

I've already paid 50% of it and the cancellation policy when I booked was the strict one where the deposit is non-refundable?

AirBnB seem to allow free cancellation for stays up until 31 May - https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/2701/extenuating-circumstances-policy-and-the-coronavirus-covid19

What do people think are the chances of that being extended?

Or do people think I should contact the host and plead my case? Can the host even offer free cancellation in this case?
