Flooring for box room

I want to fix up our box for my computer, xBox and as a general hideaway.

I had intended to put in laminate flooring but at the moment there is just the floorboards and there is thundering racket every time I move in there.

Would laminate flooring be the same? Would underlay kill my noisy footsteps?

I would rather not have carpet so I wouldn’t have to worry about keeping it clean.

    Does anyone have suggestions?

If I have to go with carpet is there a store in Ireland that delivers and would cut to a required shape and size?

There is an acoustic underlay available that will deaden the sound considerably.
Comes in 10 sq m roll and is foil backed so has insulation properties also.
Provides a nice underfoot feel to the flooring as opposed to the standard flimsy foam.
In around €50 for the roll.

We have this upstairs, the noise is less than it was before, when it was just bare floorboards. But the noise is still fairly significant

Screw down the creaky floor boards ( check for wires and pipes first) then screw 10mm ply wood over the floor then underlay then laminate.
