Raised beds against neighbour's wall

I'm planning on putting in some raised flower beds along each side of the garden. Each side has a concrete block wall dividing our garden with the neighbour's garden.

Will I need to do anything before putting soil in, or can this go directly against the concrete block walls on the inside of the flower bed?

I'd be inclined to put thick polythene between the wall and the soil, if only to stop the wall discolouring on your neighbors side.
