I am in process of trying to find my birth fathers family and wondered if this page might be able to send me in the right direction as a beautiful kind soul pointed me in this direction.

My father died when I was a baby and I have had a troubled relationship with my mother due to this but that has lead to me knowing very little, I haven't even ever seen a picture of him. Here's what I do know.

    Name: Emanuel Mundo Barr
    D.O.B: 24th July 1955
    Born: Belfast
    Died: Fleetwood Lancashire, England
    D.O.D: 8th November 1988
    Religion: Catholic
    Siblings: 1 sister
    Links to addresses on:
    Massereerne Walk and Cullingtree road.

    Possible friends:
    <MOD SNIP>

All the information is not fact just what I have found from searching.

I am on Ancestry and a few other sites and pages.
I dont really know what I am doing if I am honest. I am going to try and get some information on his baptism from a church but I'm not sure which one to go to. *♀️

I am waiting for a DNA testing kit to try that ans see if that leads anywhere.

Thank you for reading this if you got this far. ❤

    Welcome to Boards Becky.

I'm adopted myself and also searching for my birth father so we're on similar paths.

As your father was born in Belfast the civil record of his birth will only be available from GRONI. Birth records less than one hundred years old cannot be ordered online and I believe you have to make an appointment and attend in person (or have someone attend on your behalf). And I don't know if they are conducting business at present giving the Covid situation.

Have you tried to source his death record, newspaper death or anniversary notices, or burial details for your father?

    Hi Becky,

Just to let you know I've cut out the names of your Dad's friends as they may be still alive and discussing methods of searching for living people is against our charter.

Hopefully the DNA test will produce some matches who are in the 1st-2nd cousin range which should be close enough to figure out the connection and bring you in contact with close relatives.
