I've moved to an area with horrible limescale problems.
Everything has broken from showers, toilets, pipes, washing machines etc..

Can anyone recommend a water softening unit that's installed to the water coming into the house?

I have seen some that are on kitchen taps , washing machine etc.. but I want something that softens all the water coming into the house, before it gets a chance to break more pipes.

I have a raft more DIY questions but ill start with this !
    thanks guys

We're in our house 10 years. Only bought softener 2 years ago. In 8 years without it we went through 3 washing machines. 2 immersion elements and kettles would last a couple months. Best investment ever. Pleasure looking in kettle now and seeing the element like new. Clack is best brand as far as installers just shop around. They're easily fit and zero maintenance

Is it fitted on to the water pipe coming into the house or where is the softening unit stored? Is it big ? Expensive?

Most peoples are under their sink. Mine is in the garage. It's two things of equal height. One cylindrical and one dust bin shaped about 4 foot. Ones that fit under the sink are obviously much smaller
