Can't pump fuel - metallic shield

So this morning I went to get diesel and noticed there was a metallic shield which didn't allow me to fill any diesel. When I started the car there is yellow engine light. Went to my dealer and they are closed.

Any idea why this metal shield is there at the nozzle and how to fix it?

    Model: Mercedes C200D 151 model.

Is there any chance part of your fuel cap has broken off?

Does your car need AdBlue, and if so, has this run out?

There is usually a small filler cap near the main filler cap.

Could you force the nozzle through?

Adblue was almost 60% but I did fill it up today to 100% and no issue.

I ran the OBD scanner now. This is the result :

I did try it and no luck but seen videos on YouTube. Suggesting that thinner nozzles usually causing this problem. Will try another fuel pump now.

I checked and it's fully intact.

Is the shield normally part of the "door"? Just wondering if something has locked against the nozzle.

There was a metallic shield behind the nozzle area. Please check this YouTube video. Exactly same situation. I went to another pump now and was able to fill in diesel.

Do you have a cappless system though?

    Interesting, must be magnet based

No, i don't have a capless system. There is red cap which says Diesel. But it apears this metallic shield has always been there, I just noticed it today as the nozzle wasn't going through.
I went to my regular fuel pump later and noticed they have a thicker nozzle and it went in smoothly.

Do you think Petrol nozzles are thinner? I was in extreme rush today and maybe tried to put in Petrol instead of Diesel? And car wouldn't allow for this mistake?

In accordance with the standard EN 13012 the diameters of fuel nozzles at all gas stations are the same.
The narrower petrol fuel nozzle has a standard diameter of 21mm.
The diesel fuel nozzle is wider with the diameter of 25mm.

From the sound of it I'd say you were inadvertently trying to misfuel. Hats off to Mercedes, their design probably saved you a small fortune and hassle.

If the car has Adblue that goes in near the fuel (possibly all cars with Adblue) it has to have an anti misfuel system.

This is what it looks like. Finally saved something upon owing a Mercedes :D

    Thank you

Does it? I did notice that metal shutter on my car alright ( superb) when I'm refuelling again in 2030 I'll try putting the petrol nozzle in and see what happens.
