Thanks to our much maligned legislators Irish gift vouchers have some of the best consumer
protection conditions in the world in Consumer Protection (Gift Vouchers) Act 2019.

Be careful to make sure you book on the Ireland .IE site rather than the UK site.

    Ireland .IE T&Cs gift voucher:

Gift vouchers are valid for 5 years from the voucher issue date

The recipient may redeem the voucher notwithstanding a difference
between the recipient’s name as it appears on the gift voucher....
may be amended or changed without a fee being charged.

    UK CO.UK T&Cs gift Voucher:
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months (365 days) from the voucher issue date

Passenger name changes are not permitted if a booking has been paid for using a gift voucher.

    https://www.ryanair.com/gb/en/useful-info/help-centre/faq-overview/gift-vouchers/terms-and-conditions

(I love the 365 days, perish the thought you might get the extra day in the leap year!)

Remember when the the guy in ad says Terms and Conditions apply he means it.

These Ryanair vouchers are not gift vouchers, that's the issue!

    These are gift vouchers.

Terms and conditions for vouchers offered instead of a refund are anybody's guess.

Dont buy gift vouchers for people unless you dont like said people is my mantra.
    Especially Ryanair ones :)

Excellent advise, a mean way to freak out someone you don't like, send them a €25 voucher. A whole new market for Michael O'Leary!

In fairness to Ryanair they are no worse than any of the other airlines with their parsimonious terms and conditions designed to take your money and deliver no service.
