Upgrade for Oculus?

I built this machine in 2016, but now I'd like to be able to run X-Plane and DCS with Oculus Rift. The Steam VR checker suggests I really only need to upgrade to a better graphics card, but when I'm at it are there many other bits I should change or just start from scratch?

Upgrade the GPU for now, maybe a bigger SSD to house your sims too.

Look for a minimum of 8GB VRAM for X-Plane. Your RAM at 16GB is fine. You will be CPU limited for X-Plane but should still get decent FPS at medium settings with a decent GPU.

Would a CPU upgrade make sense? If so any suggestions?

I recently upgraded from an i5 3570k to an AMD 3600. It also meant a mobo and RAM upgrade and came to around €400 in total including a CPU cooler. Your PSU should still be fine. I have a GTX 1070 GPU and am getting 40-50 FPS in X-Plane most of the time with settings at the high end.

AMD are really good value in comparison to Intel at the moment.

You would be better off selling that as a working PC and just building a new one to be honest. For what you've described you would really want a new CPU + GPU, but that requires new motherboard and RAM as well.
