Hyperx stuff are generally very good for the price so i'd say you'll be good to go with that. I know that the Steelseries keyboards include consoles on their packaging if you want to look at them also.

    Apologies for bumping the zombie

HyperX Alloy Core RGB ticks a lot of his boxes.
Another recommend brands in that ball park?
    Or ones to avoid?
Similar budget, might stretch another 20.

    Havit?
    Razer Canada V2?

Looking for a mouse to match. Here looking at Amazon, might as well be looking into a field of nettles.

Also, is there a reason to have a mechanical keyboard?
    (Sorry can't link)

Yes, a much better feel. Cherry Red type switches (originals or imitations) seems to be most popular choice for gaming. I have the Corsair K63 which I can recommend as excellent, but it's not RGB (just red addressable backlight) and it lacks the numpad - which is a plus for me.
Also, I got these for the kids https://www.currys.ie/ieen/computing-accessories/computer-accessories/mice-and-keyboards/keyboards/adx-mk0419-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-10192062-pdt.html
Surprisingly good Cherry red imitation mechanical switches, RGB, full sized. Only issue is that keycaps coating is starting to wear off on the most used keys (WASD). It feels better than any rubber dome keyboard I had over the years, including good quality Logitech and Microsoft.

I'm a mechanical key convert as well and will never go back to membrane.

Got myself this keyboard and love it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01EI1ZXPI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also got myself the following light weight mouse find it great:

Digital Foundry do some good recommendation threads for keyboards and mice.

Once you experience one of those ultra light mice its impossible to go back to a normal mouse.
I was close to buying that one but went with the glorious model O- , they are very similar.
When i tried my G502 after a few days with the glorious the logitech felt like a brick :P

@ seekenee i went with this keyboard, great yoke altogether.

I'm thinking of taking the plunge to mechanical and I am drawn to 2 keyboards in particular

In all my research the Corsair K95 Platinum RGB keeps popping up and looks nice and is at a discount on Amazon at the moment

But I am really drawn to the aesthetics of the ROCCAT Vulcan 100 but the software seemingly is rubbish though

has anyone experience with either of these keyboards?

I've had Corsair keyboards in the past and were always rock solid. The K95 was top dog for a long time so i'd go with that out of the two.

That's a steal at that price too over the Roccat

How does that K95 do for regular typing though?

I currently have their K57 which is great as a wireless, multi-device keyboard (essential elements for me as I got tired of switching cables!) but I also WFH and use it with the work laptop and it's not so good there!

The DELL Precision 5510 I'm typing this post on here now is better in that sense - though I do like the chiclet-style keyboards anyway.

I've a Cherry Red keyboard and it's a joy to use. Don't think I'll ever go back.

The one listed is for Cherry Brown which are regarded as a typing/gaming middle ground switch.

Have the G910 Orion a few years now and wouldnt recomend it, altho mechanically its not a bad keyboard, its not great.

The main feature i bought it for doesnt work anymore and hasnt in a long time.

I want the KB to automatically light up the controls for the game that I am playing.

So also in the market for a new KB but that feature is the main one for me, I am old and forget keys (also switch between games a lot )

So many supers wasted in Destiny as I open a chest.

I took the plunge on the Roccat Vulcan 121 which comes with a wrist rest and was cheaper as I just like the look of those keys

Ive 2 refurbished mechanical keyboards from scan, K95 and i think my other one is a K75.
They have refurbished k95 platinum for £90 https://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-gaming-k95-rgb-platinum-rapidfire-keyboard-refurbished-cherry-mx-speed-mechanical-wired

I also bought 2 refurbished mice from scan, they work great, 2 of these https://www.scan.co.uk/products/corsair-m65-rgb-elite-optical-fps-gaming-mouse-tuneable-weight-rgb-18000dpi-wired-usb-20-8-button-re

Ive been using the kb and mice for years now without issue. Theyre refurbished by the manufacturers and sealed and i couldnt tell them from new from the 2 kbs and mice i got

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

I've been a fan of claws for over a decade , starting back with the Belkin N52, now running a Razer Orbweaver. I prefer the ergonomics and condensed muscle memory. For full keyboard needs I just got a Razer Huntsman TE and love it, it has the best action of any keyboard I've used while being compact enough for my lapboard. (I'm not a Razer fan boy, I went off them for many years but their build quality seems to be back and they've just been the right choice for me lately for replacements).

For me its my k65 rapid fire corsair. I've split a full cup of coffee on it and tuck it apart cleaned it and only one key is broken. Its been an awesome keyboard.

That's the one i used have. Was a great keyboard. I'm surprised they haven't come out with a new version of it yet.
