    Never used them but all electric heating is expensive to run due to the high unit cost of electricity. I'm guessing it would work out at double the cost of gas to run. Installation should be fairly straightforward - I think most of them just plug into a normal socket.

    If electricity is your only option take a look at an air to air heat pump. They're quick and cheap to install and have very low running cost - possibly half that of gas. There are quite a few posts on here about them.

    Air to Air heat pumps need space that I don't have. I looked at Daikin system. Looks expensive. My rads and boiler are really old. Thanks for the advice.

    No problem. I didn't know Daikin did these systems - I thought they only did air to water. That's good to know. Back when I was getting mine a couple of years ago the only installer I could find was providing Mitsubishi systems. I'm very pleased with the one he installed for me. It cost about €1800 and doesn't use radiators or underfloor heating - just a box on the wall above head height which spews out a constant stream of warm air.
