Seen very cheap flight to lanz at xmas . Would you book them in the hope we can fly by then? We had our Easter holiday cancelled & August will be too.
Summer 2021 seems so long away.

If a vaccine is widely available by then possibly would.

I’m not sure there will be though and I’m reluctant to have the Bill Gates vaccine anyway

    I’ve written off 2020

I wouldn't be booking anything until flights are back to "normal".

A vaccine will certainly not be "widely available" by December 2020. Twelve to eighteen months at a minimum.

You’re taking a punt on a cheap flight.

    It’s cheap for a reason.

No one can tell you what’s going to happen so it’s a gamble.

Ask yourself if it’s worth the risk and if you’re ok losing it.

It is tempting but risky, over the past few years I have checked the flights for Christmas and along with the accommodation, the prices are generally astronomical.

Depends how cheap and how many tickets, if you want to go at Christmas if probably go for it myself. I’ll probably book October/November in the next few weeks.

I'd expect the Canaries to be open for business by December, it might not be as busy as usual but open, many restaurants & bars just like here may not reopen after the shutdown.

If by some chance the flights don't go ahead you should be able to get a refund/date change/voucher so no real financial risk there, many hotels have a pay on arrival option so I'd be looking at one of those rather than paying for accommodation in advance.

We've two trips to different islands booked, the first end June / early July I'm not hopeful for, end of September I still have hope for, will travel if flights are going & hotels open.

So I'd say go ahead & book

Lanzarote hasn't had any new cases in 4 days, The island is doing well. God I love it there, If its cheap and you can take the hit I would risk it.

Where are you seeing cheap flights? From what I can see, return flights are around 700 each.

Aer Lingus €176 return, insanely cheap for Xmas in lanzarote.

Thanks everyone for your replys, I'm thinking I might gamble. Obviously if it isn't safe I wouldn't go but if I wait until we get a possible all clear to fly they will be crazy expensive.
I would book a free cancellation accommodation for now anyway but possibly closer to the time get a villa with a small private pool.
We were ment go to France at Easter but had decided not to go when they confirmed the first case, I said feck the flight cost but then things got very bad to flight was cancelled anyway.

That's good to hear, hopefully they have turned the corner there

At this stage, even if flights re commence, I would wonder about the vibe in the resorts.

Anyway am going to buy an ultra violet lamp and go for it at home for now!

You do know the reason for the low number is because they are hardly testing anyone. Anyone with symptoms has to stay at home(well everyone has to in their lockdown) and only the very sick are tested.

Check out Lanzarote Blogger on Facebook. An Irish guy who lives over there who gives a very frank and straight view of things.

I'm seeing 900ish return departing the week before Christmas. If I could get 176 return each, I'd book the flights right now.
