    Hi folks, another cabin thread.

    I've a large garden, 4500-5000 sq foot.
Plan for 4/5 years down the road is to extend our current 3 bed semi.
Had planned to put some sort of cabin down the back.

Would like to bring the cabin plan forward

No ones going to live in it (permanently), its primary function would be a home office, with probably some family/friends entertainment in the summer.

Looking for one with a bedroom or two, so that is friends are over they can stay and longer term as the kids get older their friends can stay over.

    Hit me with the issues.

Planning exemption for a shed / garage is 25m2. That’s in excess of twice the exemption.

Thanks Bryan, something to wait for the bigger process then.

Bedroom or 3. If it walks like a duck......
    Planning permission.
    Planning enforcement issues.

    It’s either a shed or it’s not.
If you plan to sleep in it then better prepare for a planning battle.

    You might consider a yurt.

Whilst technically any structure (including a tent) requires planning permission unless exempted, the yurt that the practical advantage that you can easily disassemble it, remove and sell if it annoys anyone.

    And they're cool. Probably literally.

    Just thought I'd post back.
Both myself and wife will be WFH until end of the year at least.

At this point she would be in the office 1 day (2 max) per week.
I've no need to be in the office.

We ordered a garden cabin (25sqm) spoke with neighbours to let them know, no issues.
We'll put some planters on both walls to give us/neighbours some additional privacy.

Should have it in by Friday week.

    Thanks for the advice folks.

Could you please PM the garden cabin company and your price / experience so far?

Am currently looking at having a Sheomra or something of that idea but they seem very pricey.
Want something for home office all year round

Don’t think you’ll be having any trouble meeting the private open space requirements anyway :D

    That looks great.
Did they put in the electricity connection from the house as well?
I'd appreciate a PM with their details and cost please.

Who did you use for this? Looks great

What was it like in the recent weather we had?

I'd be interested in similar for a home gym set up. Might need a concrete floor though.

Its an office, weather has been fine, roof is insulated but it will be cooler when it gets to the winter.
I'm in shorts all year round tbh, so ill be ok, my wife however is already looking at heating appliances :pac:

Depends on the equipment i would say but I'm not an expert
