Alpharooms

Have hotel booked in Tenerife with Alpharooms for the first week in May with flights with Ryanair. Obviously flights will not be going so will have to sort that with Ryanair. I have emailed Alpharooms and got a reply to tell me that hotel was booked on a non-refundable basis.

I have emailed the hotel and they are currently closed and they expect they will be closed for the immediate future. They have also said that to contact my travel agent i.e. Alpharooms.

I did ask if they have received any money for my booking to which I was told that Alpharooms operate on credit with them so this leads me to believe that no monies will have been paid over to the hotel and if it had the hotel would be refunding Alpharooms.

If hotel is closed, surely I am entitled to a refund from Alpharooms. I have emailed them again with this question? Anyone else having trouble with Alpharooms?

Following. We've our hotel booked in Portugal for September with alpharooms too. I presume it's too early for us to enquire about a refund but I'm assuming they won't be open. Disgraceful if alpharooms hold on to our money like that.

I honestly reckon trips in September will be going ahead so you wont be able to cancel. Spain have started opening stuff gradually so portugal will follow suit and it's only april so in 5 months can see hotels and bars being open. Even if the flights from Ireland dont go (which I actually think flights will be ) you wont be entitled to a refund if the hotel is open even with no flight unfortunately.

I booked a hotel in Spain with Alpharooms for 24th July for one week, I have been on to them loads of times wanting to cancel and they won't let me. I paid €20 deposit and they took €220 last week I'm due to pay another €220 in May and they said there is nothing they can do until they hear from the hotel which I presume is closed. There is a cancellation fee of €30 per person which I have tried to pay but they don't want it and wont let me pay it. The longer it goes on the more money I will lose as the terms and conditions say

Period before departure in which notification
of cancellation is received Cancellation charge (along with applicable fees as mentioned above):
More than 84 days before departure: Loss of deposit
84 – 57 days before departure: 30% of booking cost or deposit, whichever is greater
56 – 29 days before departure: 50% of booking cost
28 – 22 days before departure: 75% of booking cost
21 – 8 days before departure: 90% of booking cost
7 days or less before departure: 100% of booking cost

Hi all. Has anyone received an email issuing a refund credit note from alpharooms today out of the blue? I had given up hope of getting any money back but this morning I've got it back in full, to be used before September next year! Anyone else receive similar? Just scared in case it's a scam email, but it seems legit
