Noticed this constant ticking noise coming from the fridge today. Never noticed it before. Almost sounds like a clock! Anyone any idea of what the issue could be? TIA

Ice defrosting and dripping into the evaporator tray?

No. Seems to be coming from the rear/bottom of fridge. Have a video/picture but can’t seem to upload it

You need to defrost the fridge by plugging it out, the noise is coming from the circulation fan clipping off a build up of ice

    Ok thanks will try that

That's normally where the evaporator tray is.

    What year is the fridge?
Is it an ice dispenser type?

Boards lost my last post... I'll try again. :)

The photo above is the water valve and that does not usually click. Usually the clicking comes from the control-unit with the wires going into it.

Does the clicking stop when the ice-dispenser/maker is turned off? Is the door seal also hot?
If you have some of these symptoms then the problem is likely to be with the control-unit as it can suffer from capacitor failure over time.

To resolve it for the moment, pull the power for 5 mins (turning it off using the button at the front is not usually sufficient).

No noise does not stop when ice dispenser is off. No the door seal is not hot. Plugged out fridge yesterday for about 10 mins. The noise was back in soon after switching it back on!

Is the ice evenly distributed on the plate you should see at back of fridge? if not it is a sign of that it needs be renewed with freon gas which is pretty expensive and usually not cost effective in house fridge
The first thing i would do is defrost and start from scratch.
There is a relay switch that basically sends the information from the the thermostat to the compressor to tell the compressor to start working and make the fridge cold.
If the fridge is working ok it is more likely that the problem be the thermostat which is easy enough to replace as long as you can get one.
The relay is more complicated and unlikely you will be able to buy over counter..
When the fridge is warm turn on low setting and monitor, the fridge should run continually until this stat temp reached, if the clicking starts at cut-off point it is likely the stat and pretty straightforward.
There are other factors but really this is as far as you can go on your own.
Just seen 11 years, usual life 7/10 years...

A link to my video on YouTube if anyone wants to look. You will clearly hear the noise. Couldn’t figure out how to upload it here

I just had a listen and it sounds like a relay in that control box alright and not the valve.
But it's not the clicking which I expected, mine was a more of a tock- tock- tock- sound rather than the tic- tock that you're getting.
Go with the recommendation from maestroamado.

As a diy test on the solenoid valves you could put your finger on top of the coils and see if it’s coming from them, not unknown for coils to make/break circuit, not that easy to diagnose problem without being with the unit to see what is going on.
