Servicing and warranty

Due a first service soon but obviously won’t be able to get it done. There’s also a recall due on the vehicle also.

What happens if it blows up in 5000km time and it hasn’t been serviced? Should I be changing oil myself at least or does that leave them a handier excuse to shaft you?

My own is (slightly) overdue a service by a few 1000km (which for me is about 3 weeks driving) but I'm doing practically zero mileage at the moment so not too concerned.

Needs front tyres shortly and getting an intermittent warning about brake pads but the one plus about the current situation is I'm saving hundreds in diesel alone (I filled up over 2 weeks ago and still have over half a tank left which is a first for me! :) ), so when things do reopen I'll have plenty of cash to get it all done.

I’m doing about 800km a week still, which is the main issue.

Did you mail the dealer for advice?

Main dealers service and sales departments are completely closed.

I've directly looked into this on behalf of two separate brands we cover, direct response from the manufacturer in both cases is they will honour any warranty issues that occur when we reopen even in a scenario where the service interval mileage is exceeded while the dealer network is officially closed.

In fairness, you would expect most manufacturers will take a common sense approach like that. It's an unavoidable scenario for people at present and service intervals are in most cases quiet conservative, so the cars can tolerate it.

Any dealer should still be contactable via email if you wanted to drop them a mail to confirm it in writing.
