I can't find documentation on this anywhere. My boss is insisting I should be in work but I have no childcare so can't.
I'm working from home, in as much as possible, but he is a very controlling man and wants the office staff in where he can keep an eye on everything 😏
I'm working for an ETB and emailed them but got no reply.
    Thanks

I thought ETB’s were shut and doing redeployment?

    Is this the ETB?
    https://www.etbi.ie

Looks like they say Work From Home:
    https://www.etbi.ie/covid-19-coronavirus-updates/
Effective from today, Friday, 13th March, Education and Training Boards Ireland is implementing a temporary remote work policy for 14 days (end 27 March). This means that staff will be working from home as a precautionary measure to help prevent further escalation of the COVID-19 situation.

I'm assuming it was extended along with all the other externsions.

Are you in Forsa? They have advice up here and throughout say to contact them about concerns/queries/problems:
    https://www.forsa.ie/covid-19-advice-to-forsa-members_0904/

If you're not a member, it's probably possible to join.

Thank you so much, that's exactly what I'm looking for 😉 Yes, ETBI is over all ETB's.
I'm not with Forsa but I believe they are now part of the ETB

All should be working at home if possible, even staff deemed essential. So tell your boss to piss off.

OP, just email your boss, cite govt and ETBI advice and tell him you will be working from home until health restrictions are relaxed. Say you can do all/most your work this way, if necessary outlining what you can't do from home and how you plan to address this.

Key thing is don't ask his permission, just tell him you are doing it. Then you have a written record.

OP, has your manager given you a letter on headed paper outlining that you are an essential worker, and are so entitled to be travelling?

If not, then you can just say that the guards stopped you and wouldn't let you go in.

That said, your manager may insist that you take unpaid leave if your job cannot be done from home. And many admin jobs cannot, because you don't have access to the incoming mail, the scanner, the shredder, the franking machine etc.

I work in admin in an ETB and from St Patrick's weekend we were working on a rotation basis between home/office so that there were no more than one in an office at a time, with everyone working from home since 24th of March, 2020.
Our ETB were fantastic with how quickly we were all set up with laptops (& printers with scanners if we required them) to enable remote working.
