    Long story short, lads.

Disconnected the battery to work on the car (E60 BMW) and closed the boot lid as I'd the key to open the boot. Turns out the boot lid has been replaced at some point and the lock for the boot is different than the door locks! Can't access the boot from inside the car as the seats don't fold. Any one have any idea how much it'd be to get a key cut for a boot lock? Or any other ideas?

    Thanks.

EDIT - sorted with the jump cables. Thanks a lot lads.

I think without knowing the source details or the replacement boot lock you will have to go down the locksmith route.

Is your main issue that you have no power in the car?
I’d imagine there’s a jumping post under the bonnet that you could put power to.

But with the battery disconnected would that not mean the circuit won't be complete no matter how you get the power to it?

It will still be ok, I came to post the same thing. Power points under the bonnet, booster pack on or jump leads

No, I wouldn’t have thought so. Should go straight from jumping post to battery lead.

Logically that should work but I had a dead battery in my E46 Cabrio and thought the window would pop down and back up as I closed the door if I provided power from the front charging points. Had to put the dud battery back in before it would work.

Thanks lads, great idea. I'll give the jump cables a try

Sure that rear bench will bolt out? Couldn’t image it’s welded in place

    It might be structural

There's bolts in the boot that be removed.

I doubt it considering it’s just an optional extra on them?

I remember my neighbour was an auctioneer years ago and she had a few Passats and treated herself to a new E46 3 series... Had it a day and realised she couldn’t fold her seats to put in the for sale signs etc
