Advice on fitting a new Shower Tray

    Hi folks,
I had an old solid (heavy) shower tray which was damaged so i have removed it. The location not a corner, it is an 'alley' if you get what I mean (3-sided) so I bought one of the light fiberglass type which have the steel sub-frame and 4 adjustable feet.

The old tray was set along the sides in mortar but not underneath as I have seen with some YouTube videos. Do I need to set the new lighter type tray in mortar?
I plan to use a tanking kit to get a good seal on the tray so I suppose it is important that the tray cannot possibly move side-to-side and upset the tape around the edge (which is used in the tanking kit).

Second question - the feet will sit on floor-boards. I would imagine over time the feet would settle into the wooden floor and create a gap or strain the seal on the tanking tape. I was thinking I would put 4 stainless steel plates under the feet to spread the load. Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for any help - stay well, stay in!
