There seems to be quite a few drugs seizures since all this Covid has happened . It’s a perfect opportunity for the gardai when drug dealers can’t use the cover of the working population to move their poison . A significant cocaine for find in portlaoise yesterday , hopefully more to come

Actually during covid it's the perfect time for drug dealers.

No one is checking anything at customs anymore. People are home bored so what you would consider a usual Saturday night is now a random Tuesday.

If anything business is a boomin' for them. Garda in turn are seizing their bit. A tiny bit of what goes through.

I agree the local pushers and addicts are all wearing mask at the moment their very hard to recognise by the police driving by. Its only when they break the social distancing you can tell when their scoring

I work with addicts and the only the ones who tap a lot or shop lift are saying they are struggling to raise cash.A lot are getting their drugs on tick at the moment with that going to lead to problems further down the road.
Theres no shortage of anything in the way of street drugs.

I've seen a few street deals going on during my walks.
However, if I was a dealer, I wouldn't fancy driving around with drugs in my car. The chances of being stopped are very high.

With the lockdown, you notice people walking through your area a lot more, especially anyone who isn't local. I probably wouldn't have thought too much before but now I see a couple of heads going by, they don't live anywhere around here and they are walking back in 20 mins.

Very obvious what they are at. They don't strike me as the type to take a leisurely stroll. It's obvious they are either picking up drugs for themselves or for someone else.

I could sympathise a bit with the hash/weed smokers. But for people wanting to do something stronger, it's a bit mental. Get a bad pill or rotten coke and you end up having to go to A&E. Not somewhere where I'd want to be right now!

Youd think its a opportunity for cocaine addicts to get off cocaine at the minute.

Most cocaine dealers should have heaps of cash from the last few years to keep them going.

Couple of decent enough drug finds in recent days , every drug squad worth it’s salt across the country should be capable of a few decent seizures as drug dealers try and keep their drug addicts serviced with very little traffic around to hide their carry on

I follow the news on breakingnews.ie and it occurred to me that the reason there are so many reports of drug seizures as there isn't much other news after the reporting on Covid-19?

I would suspect that many that “recreationally” use cocaine at the weekends won’t be able to afford it as they are on a very much reduced income. Also many of these individuals are not socializing in the way that they normally do resulting in less opportunities to partake.

It’s a chance for a lot of people to re access their cocaine use . Some for financial reasons will have to reduce or stop altogether , others might see the folly of it all and give up but there’s another group who say they only did it socially but now can’t go without it , causing a lot of trouble in houses as they struggle without it and are limited in getting their hands on it particularly in rural Ireland

    What makes you say that?

Are the drug dealers eligible for the 350 COVID payment?

Know people who have come back from abroad. Talking about 3-4 weeks ago. They all said they walked straight through customs.

Can't blame customs either. I wouldn't be going through someone's bag with a pandemic on. They can bring all the drugs they want.

As opposed to all the other times when there's a line of people waiting to be searched? The majority of people walk straight through

There's also a lot of people who got big payrises from this situation. People working part time on weekends going from 100 quid a week to 350. Can't go to the pub so a few cans and a bag at the mates house is now a lot more affordable.

TIL those several groups of young ladies I saw sauntering around ignoring any HSE advice were 'scoring'.

What do you want from me?
You asked me, I answered. I relayed information to you and others reading this.

But you want to know the funny thing? I actually said to myself (when I was replying to you) that "I wonder if this guy is doing the whole asking me something so he could argue with me no matter what I say"

... It's a play people do. I was hoping I was wrong. Yet here we are.

Maybe he thought your unequivocal statement that no one was checking meant you had inside info rather than just random people not seeing customs agents at the airport.

I can't remember the last time I saw them on pre-covid19 trips through DUB, and i've been looking for them every time (mainly so I could shout Bruuuuuuuuce at that clown), like the rest of Irish law enforcement they are very thin on the ground.

I would like you to consider the information recieved from your friend and file it under 'stupid comment' instead of 'pass this info on'

    Thanks

Or heaven forbid they're going for a walk

Who works 1 single shift at the weekend and survives by only earning €100 a week and is now "raking it in" on a temporary 3 fiddy lol

When I was working in hotels heaps of people worked 5 hr shifts for weddings and functions. 6pm till 11pm usually Fridays and Saturdays. Normally students. They can now claim 350 as hotels are shut due to virus.

And I think you are 100% wrong says me.

But want to know something we would probably agree on? That being who cares. We're not making important governmental policies with this ;)

Another admitably small amount of cocaine taken out of circulation in Galway this time You’d imagine now is a perfect time to flush out some of the drug dealing scum in our towns and villages .

My brother in law is a customs officer and still working and checking night and day.

What do you think they're doing?.
