Trouble receiving some FreeSat channels

So I have hooked up my dish to my Sony Android TV with built in digital tuners (KD-49xe9005) and run a scan to pick up channels. My dish seems to be pointed in the right direction as its picking up a number of unencrypted channels such as Euronews and CNN and a bunch of encrypted channels like the Sky channels and BT sport.

For some reason I am not seeing a single one of the standard UK Freesat channels (BBC, ITV, C4 etc.). They arent turning up in any form. What could I be doing wrong? By any chance has the TV decided I am in Ireland and region locked me out of the channels? I also cant for the life of me find a way of manually tuning individual channels in, but shouldn't they turn up on a scan anyway?

Any help appreciated as Im starting to get frustrated!

Are you sure your dish is aligned to the right satellite position? Apart from CNN/Euronews, are you seeing any foreign language channels?

Sounds like your pointed at the wrong position.

I've a Sony TV, and I gave up on the fta sat TV .

I ended up connecting a freesat box.
It's annoying how often channels change freq, and the hastle of returning and resorting.

Im seeing a bunch of shopping channels, music channels and encrypted adult channels. Not a huge amount of foreign language.

Is it a Sky dish? If so, read the Can only get limited Satellite Channels thread down the page.

Did the dish receive all channels before you got the TV. Have you selected the correct satellite option on the installation menu?

Sounds like a former sky q issue... If you had sky q then the lnb on the dish (the yoke that sticks out on arm with leads coming out of it) is a different type, and most channels won't be received. You'll have to replace that.

I hadnt used it to try get freesat channels up until now. The dish was on the house when I moved in. We used it to get Sky (before sky Q, a few years ago)

Thanks for pointing me to that. I dont think this dish was ever used with Sky Q. There are two wires coming from the dish. I plugged the secondary wire into the receiver and ran a full scan. It found some different channels - For example France 24, but still no sign of the BBCs

Have I read that other thread correctly, if it is a Sky Q LNB then 1 of the 2 receivers should pick up BBC as they pick up opposite polarizations?

    Thanks again for the help
