I've ordered a new 201 car and it arrived at my dealer, But it hasn't been registered yet Due to everything closing cause of Coronavirus. If it's July before they reopen or nearly July and I wait... can I have it registered 202?

    Seems reasonable.

If they dont reopen before July you'll have no choice but to take a 202 :pac:

The simple answer is yes you can of course.

The long answer is that if you got a special offer, like 0% etc. that might have come with a caveat that it had to be registered in 201 etc. etc.

Or the Dealer might adjust your trade in.

    Or, or or.

My advice is, 201/202 will be ABSOLUTELY ZERO difference to the trade in value of your car. So if they open on the 1st of May, just take your new car and have it for an extra 2 months as a "20" plate, that's the bit that matters.

Love these posts. Op can afford the second biggest new purchase after a house but has concerns over resale values based on a slight plate change.

Can you really afford this car op?

OP didnt mention anything about concerns over value or affordability?

More like OP doesn't want their brand new car to look 6 months old when they've never even sat their arse in it before.

There's more an air of begrudgery off of your post IMO.

Maybe his Yacht was the second biggest purchase. What would anyone one here know about his financial situation, and most people won't care except the begrudgers..

202 will probably be an unusual number plate going forward, not as unusual as 211,but still. It's going to be a difficult time for the motor industry, like most businesses.

Wife picked up her 201 car the first week in March and then the lockdown came the very next week and she's complaining that she should have waited till 202, only light hearted complaining mind.
First world problems and all :)

At least the old chestnut "only used the odd time for popping to the shops" might actually be true come resale time :D

If you explain the logic to her that she has her car for an extra 3 months she might see the light.

Ah no! Have several new cars myself. It won't be 6 months old. It will be brand new and it will defo be registered before July the way we are going. I'd say end of May early June most businesses are open again. Just enjoy and cruise.

All car prices are in a difficult space as values and sales tumble. Maybe op should cancel car and reorder at a cheaper price or buy a 2 year old at huge discount. Good time to buy as dealers are hungry for cash if you can. Hire companies are eager to shed stock also. It will be a buyers market for foreseeable future.
