What are people doing regards car servicing during lockdown?
My A6 is overdue service and I don't know when garage will be open to service it. It's serviced every 15k kms on the button and they use long life oil in it so hopefully that may help as it's overdue now...

Car is 2011 2l TDI A6 300k kms on clock

Most smaller owner garage will do repair/servicing behind closed doors just give them a call

where you based? honestly with oil change, depending on age of car, but often better off and quicker, doing it yourself... yeah with a 2011, probably still makes sense to get stamped service...

I wouldn't be very mechanically minded to be honest.

    I'm in Navan

A few weeks over isn't gong to matter. Makes no difference.

Car is nearly 10 years old. Full service history isn't really relevant anymore.

The most important thing for me is that the car is mechanically ok

Who knows when garages will open and this could go to months overdue.

The car is doing approx 2.5k kms per month

It'll be grand. Vast majority of Irish cars go way over the service interval anyway and are usually perfectly fine.
Those advertised service intervals have a generous safety margin in them anyway as the manufacturers only want to lure you back in to screw you on over priced servicing.

Then look on the internet for small garages with mobile phone numbers and give them a ring

And they'll give you the dose while you're there for free.

An 11 A6 can be ran on long life (30k) intervals and many people do this trouble free even into high mileage.

I'd top up the oil level if necessary and drive on, wont be an issue at all. I know it's a bit crap to be upsetting a service history but it's not like you dont have a good excuse and it wont do any harm.

    Thanks,

The garage that I use put Long Life oil into it. It has no dip stick so I can check the oil level. I can check on the MMI but I don't trust it!
