New HSE Contract .

    Listened to a Dr being interviewed on radio this morning re takeover of private hospitals . He stated that he must dispatch his patients into the public system , thus denying them ongoing care under his direction . Now heres the rub . Private patients presently receiving care in public hospitals , under Doctors who are allowed private patients ( as per their contracts allow ) , will NOT be effected . I am seriously worried that HSE interference in the private hospitals will be a disaster for this country .

    Please can someone tell me why we are being asked to observe isolation and not travel more than 2k and yet the ferry is bringing in cars with visitors from England and they are not being stopped. What is our government thinking about....a really dreadful situation, when all the health workers and most of the population are doing their best to curtail this dreadful virus

    Its essential travel only on the ferry .

    Well, private health insurance is effectively another tax on people who can afford it. I've no problem with people who can support themselves being able to pay for "more than standard" health care.

    In the process, public health system gets extra money.
