    Hi

My driving license expires at the end of the month. No panic in getting it as I know with Corona the offices are closed and all this.

So out of interest attempted to do it online. And seems I need a public service card for this. I don’t have one of these.

Does anyone know of a way renew your license online without a public service card?

You can't unless they charge the rules.

You need a face to face interview to get a PSC.

There's also a 3 month rule for getting a licence online.

    AFAIK.

    ...Who can apply?
Anyone applying for a full driving licence renewal or a learner permit renewal unless:

the expiry date of your driving licence or learner permit is greater than 3 months from today...

    It's on the website...

You don't require one according to their website

Edit: it looks like this only applies when you show up in person.

To get a licence or renew you need a verified myGovId. To get this you need the PSC.
    Please verify your MyGovID account
You must verify your MyGovID account to access NDLS Online Solution. A verified account is a more secure type of MyGovID account that lets you access all available services. Learn more about MyGovID.

If you do not have a Public Service Card (PSC) Card then you will need to make an appointment at your local Social Welfare Intreo Office to get a PSC card. To make an appointment click Create a PSC Appointment and follow the instructions

To get a PSC you need to make an appointment for an meeting
Important notice on Corona Virus Covid-19
Over the last number of days the Department has experienced unprecedented levels of demand on our services. In particular our online appointment services have been in high demand.

Fulfilling these appointments involves a visit to our offices. In line with the latest HSE and WHO advice around Social Distancing in order to fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus the Department has taken the decision to suspend all PPSN and PSC appointment services with immediate effect to reduce footfall to our offices in the best interest of our customers and staff.

If you are in need of a PPSN please follow the guidelines at www.gov.ie

The Department apologises for this inconvenience and thanks you for your patience at this time.

    Nice catch 22.

yep, so essentially, me trying to do it online requires me to have a PSC and this requires me to go to a meeting.

other option is to do it via NDLS directly which also requires me going to an office, but office not open.
