Constantly reconnecting WiFi to Sky Q

My WiFi isn’t great and slows down a lot at peak times. Is there no way a Sky Q box can reconnect automatically like a phone or most other devices after a disconnection? You need to go through the whole reset/search/connect process every time including entering the password.

It has happened to us quite a bit too.

To save entering the password everytime, just use the option that says you’re with Sky Broadband.

automatically (funny, that) gives you the opportunity to use your routers WPS function. Never a password entered again. For us it did it a few more times, repeated the approach and now it’s fine.

Doesn’t work for me unfortunately.I can’t get landline broadband so I’m on mobile broadband from 3. I accept my WiFi drops now and again but just wondering why it’s so clunky to reconnect the Sky Q box to it every time. My phone and every other phone connects to known WiFi automatically so why not a Q box.

I had to buy homeplugs to solve that problem.

Sorry to confuse the issue but my Sky Q box reconnects seamlessly when the connection drops... an often enough occurence out here in the sticks!

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message, however a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

These days spend half my time reconnecting the Q box. Is it down to the broadband quality or is there anything else I can do?

Hi - so what exactly happens to your setups when the Wifi needs to be reconnected?

My parents have had nothing but issues with their Sky Q since it went in and have just told me it's acting up again. The main box usually works fine but they have two minis which regularly lose connection while other devices like laptops\phones continue to work OK with the Wifi. Is that what happens with you?

They have Eir broadband with the white Sky booster located beside the Eir F2000 router.

Can anyone please suggest the best sequence for them to power off and reconnect everything when the minis lose connection?

ANOTHER visit from a Sky engineer to fob them off again with some nonsense isn't really an option as they are cocooned at home due to their age.

I'd appreciate any suggestions which may help.

    Thanks.

I’ve main box and one mini box. I tried to get a second mini box for bedroom but engineer couldn’t get signal to reach that far. The mini box is not used that often but mostly the signal gets to it ok. The main issue I have is whenever the main box disconnects I have to reconnect manually. I have done as Sky suggested, an update on main box but I don’t think this has made any difference. I would be interested to hear if anyone thinks my problem is weak WiFi or something to do with the Sky Q setup?
