This was a live event of the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat put on by North Canton's Hoover High School.

    Wasn't expecting that.

Enjoyed that, 25 year anniversary in Royal Albert Hall 2011.
Way better than Jesus Christ Superstar last week.

Wonderful show and great to see all the original cast, Crawford, Brightman and of course to see our own Colm Wilkinson :)

Good set of lungs on him, but have you ever seen him interviewed? Christ he's hard going.

Speaking of Christ, how did a guy as seemingly uncool as Andrew Lloyd-Webber write a musical as funky as JC Superstar? The basslines & guitar parts in that show are unreal.

Saw him in the national concert hall years ago. Went off on a very republican political rant. Lost a lot of respect for him that night.

    Amazing talent though.

Can anyone tell me how long the Phantom show is, please?

    ETA cancel that, found it!

I'm looking forward to this so, I thought JCS was fantastic!

Haven't seen it since I was a kid, mind you....

    I would imagine so.
I'd say Evita and Cats are probables.

Love Never Dies is this coming Friday's event, sequel to Phantom of the Opera, 2012 version.
Over 11 million people watched Phantom over weekend .

    It was bloody brilliant!!

My first time seeing it, have tickets for BGET in December, suspect it'll be a little less spectacular!

Save your sanity and give this one a miss. They didn't call it Paint Never Dries for no reason.

Now I know why I never went to see it, wasn't the best musical ALW
would ever write or rewrite as it turned out.

    You were warned ;)

    True.

Next Friday's is ALW's 50th Birthday party (1998) with stars like Michael Ball, Sarah Brightman, Elaine Page and Boyzone! and others singing songs from his musicals.

Try this in IMDB Great Performances" Andrew Lloyd Webber: The Royal Albert Hall Celebration (TV Episode 1998) - IMDb

Scroll down to “Soundtracks” and the running order is there. I tried to copy and paste but couldn’t!

She was brilliant. Wasn’t so impressed with Elaine Paige.

I’m going around all day sing “High flying, adored”.

Was very surprised at how good Banderas & Close were.
Some very young looking people there all right.

Oh I really, really hope they stream Evita..... I'm on my second round of blaring the concert (God help the neighbours!), and those are easily my favourites. Closely followed by Jesus Christ Superstar.

Have to say I'm loving Elaine Paige.... I love her voice.

    But Banderas...... swoon!!!!!

Would guess it depends on how long these go on for.
By Jeeves (his self-proclaimed “disaster musical”) is a deffo, as is Cats.
I'd say Evita will also be shown and would love to see Starlight Express in the mix, one of the 1st musicals I saw in London many years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

By Jeeves is on this coming Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

The only good thing about By Jeeves was it was free, more of a "comedy" as such than a musical though.

This coming Friday show is Cats.

Cats is a filmed version with Elaine Page from 1998 and this will be the last free musical according to ALW.
So no Evita or SLE unfortunately.

    Bummer about no Evita.
Saw that in the Gate (or was in BordGaisEnergy) 2~3 years ago - wonderful.

Was that the one with Marti Pellow? I was underwhelmed by his performance but overall it was a great show.

    Sorry, don't recall.

I just love the music, and the story is quite moving too.
In Buenos Aires, they have a silhouette of Eva Peron on the side of a skyscraper!

    Photo attached!

It was through Andrew Lloyd Webber's channel The Show Must Go On. I hope the poster was happy to be informed of a free performance and not split hairs.
