Builders holidays and COVID90 dole

With builders holidays scheduled for between Good Friday and the following Friday, under normal circumstances we would be expected to take this leave out of our accrued leave. Signing on for it because you didn't want to use your leave, or ran out of leave, wouldn't be entertained.

On that note, can we expect a COVID19 payment for that week or will the powers that be decide we have to burn up our holiday leave doing FA at home?

You’re going to get the payment for 12 weeks. You’re not in employment at the moment so you can’t take holidays. This is really simple and uncomplicated. I think the “powers that be” will end up being really sorry they ever bothered with any of this. No one would ever believe that so many could be so ungracious about the whole thing.

Nothing about this ****show is simple and uncomplicated. You're talking about an administration that said on Friday night that only essential workers should go to work, then took until Saturday to actually specify who fell under the definition of essential workers.

When they announced the Covid 19 work assisted wage cover they didn't bother explaining the rules to anybody, meaning various news outlets put out their own incorrect interpretations of it.

It has been an absolute disaster. We're just lucky we have competent people guiding them on the medical side because the economic response has been a disgrace.
No one would ever believe that so many could be so ungracious about the whole thing.

Is that directed at me? Ungracious?

The virus was spread in this country through government inaction and negligence, albeit a good dollop of the ignorant public point blank refusing to practice any form of social distancing after the schools shut didn't help. FFS we still don't have closed borders, we only have them by default seeing as a tourist from Spain or Italy would find it difficult to find a flight or to find a hotel here. Leo Varadkar is so enamoured with te principle of EU free movement it is entirely possible we will lift the lockdown whilst simultaneously leaving the borders open to tourists from basket cases (the UK, US) and be back to square one within weeks.

I'll be damned if I have to burn through my holiday leave on lockdown because of it. Just because FG wasn't as negligent as the UK was doesn't mean they should shirk the blame for this.

Ah yes, the classic close the borders...

Thankfully the government are following the advise of the WHO regarding border closures.

You think we should be open to tourist traffic at the height of this?

    Christ.

I just think we should maybe follow the advice of the World Health Organisation? Are you more qualified than the WHO?

    Paywall.

Given we are effectively under border control within 2km of our own communities to contain this, why do you think international borders should be treated differently?

You strike me as the type of clown who as late as last week was still standing a foot behind people in Tesco before they were forced to put retard separation marks on the floor for the attention of you window licking gob****es.

I'm still interested in your take on my "ungraciousness", that I should be grateful that FG have decided to throw me a few crumbs because of a situation of their own incompetent making.

So FG brought us the Coronavirus through incompetence (?!?) and €350 X 12 weeks of taxpayers money is “a few crumbs”.
I know builders make an absolute fortune and the €350 per week is really beneath you but you do realise that your not OBLIGED to apply for it? Even though it’s been explained over and over that the money is a weekly payment for 12 weeks for everyone you still found some way to moan about it by making up some rubbish about “builders holidays”. You appear to think that someone from SW should have contacted you out of the 100,000s that applied for the payment and discussed the situation with you.
I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I’ll let them know tomorrow that builders are actually on holidays from tomorrow and should be getting paid from their employers. Maybe you’ll be satisfied then. All the other builders can thank you. But you do insist that you have a legitimate complaint to make so you only have yourself to blame.
    Well done.

What in the **** are you actually scuttering on about? Are you a FG canvasser or something? They make a hames of controlling the spread of this virus and I should be grateful they are giving me a few quid?

The FG economic response has been laughable. Leo delivers a speech on Friday night telling all but essential workers to stay home, takes another 15 odd hours to release a list of what an essential worker actually is. This isn't leadership, it is negligence.

Seriously. I know it isn't nice having to sit indoors all the time but you seem to have went off the deep end, I seriously can't work out your gripe here.

I didn't have a moan about anything. I asked whether the state would try and force us into taking holiday leave when we have nothing to do on said holidays.

Again, like the other fella, you strike me as the sort of gob****e who needed stickers put on the supermarket floor because you weren't smart enough to stand 2 metres away off your own volition. It's because of ignorant people like you, along with your beloved FG, that we're in this mess.
