I love how you can hear the geese* honking in the background! :)

    *I'm assuming they're geese...

Yes, I regularly have the webcam running in the background while I'm working and the other sounds are amazing, woodpeckers, pheasants, duck...

9.24am - just had the webcam on for background - empty nest - but lots of interesting calls when both birds landed. A very quick bit of nooky and the male left again. Things are looking up! :)

Strange background sounds yesterday. Can anybody identify the sort of bubbling one that sounds like it should be in a rain forest rather than the Scottish highlands?

Slightly off topic but I came across another excellent Scottish Osprey Cam on the Woodland Trust website while looking for information on Lime trees!

Things not looking great at the Loch of the Lowes with the nest possibly abandoned, but the other site at Loch Arkaig was active this afternoon with both birds in attendance.

Better news, and viewing, at the Dyfi Osprey site in mid-Wales where the first egg has been laid. :)

and another further north near Porthmadog is also going well:

Amazing birds, Ospreys, as the ones at Porthmadog have even learnt to use cable ties in their nest building!

Looking at some of those nests... some of the 'twigs' look quite huge, particularly in the Lowes nest. Are these nests built by Osprey or do they take over nests that were already there?

They are reused year after year and added to and repaired. Different occupants some years such as the new female at the Loch of the Lowes this year. Some of the videos show the Ospreys bringing in large twigs.

Yea, just saw one of the Dyfi birds bring in a particularly large stick. It brought it carrying it with both feet. I of course had been imagining them bringing them in with their beak like you see most birds do. Silly me.

That Dyfi feed is really good, great quality.

The Dyfi nest with two large chicks is now on a new YouTube link http://www.dyfiospreyproject.com/live-streaming and the other Welsh site at Glaslyn has three large chicks - one has fledged but is back in the nest.
