Booked a package holiday months ago and paid a deposit with the balance due 18/4.

Departure isnt until late June, appreciate they are prioritising current departures and contacted them by email but have yet to get a reply.

Question is, given nobody knows how things will be in late June, do we pay the balance and if it doesn't happen claim travel insurance (we have VHI multi trip) for the whole lot.

    Or

Cancel and claim for the deposit paid.

Flights are scheduled with Ryanair and hotel is one booked vis the package (we paid budget travel not the airline or hotel directly).

Tried contacting VHI and they have yet to respond.

Anyone else in the same position with Budget Travel or have you spoken with them?

If it were me I'd continue paying the entire thing as normal as you won't get anything back if you try to cancel it yourself.

Wait until they have to cancel it due to government advice ( if it's gonna be cancelled) so they will have to give you an entire refund..

So basically leave it alone for the moment and keep paying as normal.

I would pay the balance. If holiday is cancelled by travel agent, you'll receive full refund or offered other options. If things go back to normal, you'll still have your holiday but by not paying the balance you'll lose your deposit as it will appear you have cancelled. I booked package holiday, due to have gone last week and company have offered full refund which I'll accept and hopefully rebook when things return to normal.
