Low definition streaming

Not sure if this is the right place, so feel free to move as necessary..

With the whole lockdown thing, I'm thinking of subscribing to Netflix or similar. Given that my internet is all via phone tethering, I'd like the option to stream in low quality.
I feel 240p (maybe 360p at a push) is plenty for watching a TV show that doesn't have any writing on it that needs reading, so it always bothers me immensely when streaming something online and the lowest option is 720p or 1080.
Is there a Netflixesque service (or an option on Netflix itself) which allows you to watch in lower definition?

Netflix's cheapest plan is standard def only

I believe 480p is the lowest quality used to encode video on netflix
It requires slightly under 2 Mbps but netflix recommends 3Mbps

Use the RTE player. They’ve perfected no-definition.

Can't believe they went to all that effort to update only not to pay for enough bandwidth :(

I'd be happy to pay the licence fee even if they introduced a stealth tax to replace it just once it didn't got to RTE.

Thanks all. 480 seems reasonable. The connection speed isn't the issue - I don't want to exceed the data limit and risk getting clobbered..

at low(480p) you will be using about 800MB per hour of video.

Exactly, which is why I'd prefer 240 or 360 if possible..

Switch to Three if the quality is ok in your area? And get unlimited data.

Or just, y’know, pay for WiFi like everyone else :p

I'm on Three, and the coverage is usually fine, if a bit slow to load at odd times. Just don't want to be taking the piss, like :P Also, anything higher than 480 is simply unnecessary..
