16 MPG?! What are you driving?! do you go through many tolls? Id contemplate electric...

It's that lad with the fiesta again.

The OP of the fiesta maintenance saga!

Has she given up the ghost?

Mk2 105bhp 1.9tdi octavia (avoid the bxe engine code)
If you don't mind a dated appearance a cheap tax post 08 mk1 1.9tdi 100bhp octavia would be a solid option.

A 1.5 dci renault fluence or megane iii worth considering too.

    1.4d4d corolla or auris also.

Plenty of bargains to be had up north, maybe go for a 1.6tdi Golf?

Is that 8 x 88km? That's 704 km for 30 euro which is not true, its about 23/24 litres of fuel, let's call it 4 gallons. You're getting about 100 mpg there.

Even if I read it wrong and you're only doing 4 x 88 km trips for 30 euro you're still looking at 50 mpg.

How did you arrive at 16mpg?

Think The OP has confused mpg with km/Litre. 16 km per litre is more realistic for a 1.2 Fiesta petrol.

I used a mpg online calculator, perhaps I am wrong about reading it.

Windsor offered me 3k for the car as a trade-in deposit for skoda superb 2015 1.6ltr 3 years warranty

    https://www.windsor.ie/used-cars/11291876-skoda-superb-ambition-1.6-tdi-105-hp-4/

    Is it a good deal?

I've recently moved into drogheda and I only found out that I am doing 88km per trip. That's why my previous post have different details, those were only my estimations.

I can't stand that shape superb the 1.6 is very sluggish particularly in town driving.

So how much did they actually want with your Fiesta for the Superb? A 2008 Fiesta isn't worth 3k.

They rang me and said I can trade it in for value of about 3k, with €258 monthly repayments over 5 years 3 years warranty.

I only enquired to see how much will the fiesta cost.

I picked up a 10 superb, 140hp ,absolute beauty for just north of 3k

They are probably giving you an inflated scrappage discount value for the Fiesta especially when giving it over the phone. You need to figure out how much the Superb is actually costing you and compare against what a similar car would cost you from a different garage.

    Any other garage you suggests?

Buy a Renault Megane or fluence or Laguna....

    1.5dCi.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 808 ✭✭✭FrankC21

The 12 years old ford fiesta is a good car no doubt but on the motorway it really isn't powerful enough, feels like the car would fall apart or something and when I drive it with my pregnant wife in passenger seat I don't feel safe enough especially driving beside big lorry trucks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,127 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

140bhp etc is fine, if the issue with fiesta is feeling vulnerable and lack of power, I wouldnt be going into a 105 bhp car

Well then go purchase a bigger car, how many threads do you need to work this out?

If you're doing serious kilometres then you need something comfortable.

because I like to make sure I purchase something that is worth and will last me for 5 years, that's why I asked a lot of questions to rule out the most common answer.

From what I gather it's either renault or skoda?

Why 5 years the way you go on you want a a new car..... Nobody can guarantee the car will last that.

The megane I have I've put 45k on it, it's 2011, diesel and there is nothing to say it won't pack up tomorrow.

You're buying cheap so rinse and repeat....

If something serious goes on it and it's too expensive get rid buy another....

Just last March, €3,400 213k on it.

OP, your going the same way as your previous threads, you start off by asking about a 3k car and then move on to looking a 14k one. You need to settle on a budget and stick with it. Not trying to have a go but each thread has the same theme of just going round in circles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,127 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

3k will probably get him into a 2010-2011 chape tax daysul octavia or superb etc, thats where I would be going...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I wouldn’t be buying a dieselgate TDI anyway.

    How about that car?

I called them and planning to trade in my fiesta, they told me I have to let them know when best time to visit them, green hills motor near my place within 2km.

I mentioned about the mileage of the octavia being high, he said it is quite different with 2 ltr engine cars, I don't get what they meant? Is it different with 2litre engines?

Jesus, there is a gap the width of a canal running down between the shut lines of that bonnet and wing. Front bumper near the passenger side wheel arch also has paint peeling off it. Passenger side doors look a different shade of paint to the rear quarter but could be the light in the photo. Driver's side panel near the rear light has a crease too and that's just a quick observation from the photos.

l couldn't think of a worse way to spend €3800. And btw OP, sellers will tell you anything if it helps close a sale.

Wow did not noticed that, Does it suggest it might got involved in a crash?
If not, maybe I can bargain with him to 2k
