Drain Cock

I got a new drain cock for my central heating as the old was removed by a previous plumber and never replaced.

The 3/4 inch compression drain cock I got from the plumbers providers says 22mm on it and not 3/4 inch.

Can I simply replace the nuts and olives with 3/4 inch versions? Or will I have to wait for everything to open up and swap it for a 3/4 inch one?

    Thanks

22mm is the metric English size fittings and such are far cheaper there as the are bulk made for the European market, the Irish size is as you know 3/4 . THEY are not the same.

If it was drilled out for 22mm chuck it out , do you have a bit of 3/4 scrap you can try it on . some times fittings are marked as 22mm when they are fine (specials for the Irish market).

dont try to use it if it and the olive are not a tight fit you will regret it.

If its a job you can leave till you can check i would advise you to do so.

Thanks Nick for the info, I'm just surprised as I bought it from my the regular plumbing providers I buy my supplies from. I wonder why Ireland never moved to 22mm?
