Stanley Tara - smoke & smell

I have a Stanley Tara stove.

I had the door handle, rope and glue replaced last year.

I lit it a couple of times after and there was a strange smell and smoke.

Lit it again yesterday and it was the same.

The stove is clean inside and I was only burning dry firewood and coal.

There was light white smoke coming out of the top outlets.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks..

If the stove is not being used or cleaned regulalrly you could be getting some fine ash/ soot collecting at a bend in the flue, if this gets damp throuh lack of use you can get a smell from it as the moisture burns off.

That was the third time in about 18-20 months.

Anything I can do aside from lighting it regularly?

Also the wind is from the north the last few days, its an infrequent direction and depending on your site, location and setup a strong wind from a different direction can pose occasional issues by behaving differently on the flue. In this country the wind is from the south west 90% of the time.

Got same smell and light smoke when I lit it this time last year. I put it down at the time to glue from the new rope.

This can happen as a stove is settling in. Put on a small fire and gradually built it up to burn off any "smells" you may need to open the window.
Might be with checking that the flue is not blocked
    (BBQ crow anyone)

    Thanks will try that.

Do I just jam a broom handle up the flue??

There will probably be a baffle plate that you need to remove, see manual, and if flue is a straight shot up a small mirror you should see daylight at the top,..
