Hotel closed due to Covid 19

I was to travel to a hotel in Spain tomorrow. I paid in advance in full for full board with no cancellation allowed. The flight was booked separately and it will be refunded in due course.

As hotels in Spain are closed, I would have a expected a refund, especially as it belongs to a worldwide chain. They are only offering to rebook ne dates up to the end of March next year.

    Anything I can do?

Ring the hotel reception tomorrow and see if they are open.

The hotel is not open. I had emailed the hotel last week and they referred me to their central customer care email who sent me the information that they are offering rebooking up to March 2021.

If the hotel is close then they can do a charge back on your credit card if they won't refund.

Melia Hotels are only offering a postponement of travel stays. Up to end of March 2021.

Huge outcry on their Facebook page from disgruntled customers. They are just ignoring.

I have sought a chargeback through Ulster Bank. They require lots of information before they will do this. Ten days on, nothing from Ulster Bank.

Having been a good customer of Melia Hotels over the years, I will never stay with them again.

We will remember the companies that have been good to us.

Had to double check my booking for lanzarote in June there
We are also due to stay in a melia hotel (we won’t be )
But at the last minute When booking i decided to lay the extra for free cancellation
So looks like I can cancel for any reason up to 24 hours in advance thank god
Have to wait and see about the flights
