Concrete Mixer won't start!!

. . . .And I need it to pass away the Lock down!!


Belle mixer with a petrol Honda GXH50 engine.

Was running ok when I last used it about a year ago.

Stored in shed since.

Spark is good.

A shot of easy start would probably work but don't any . . .And won't be getting any for a while by the looks of it.

Any tips ?!!

I opened the screw under the carburettor and petrol flowing out here. Didn't want to do too much rippin

Fully drain it and start with some fresh petrol.

Ya? Using the screw at the bottom of the carburettor Ya?? Should this work??

Possibly, but carb could be blocked and may require a bit more stripping and cleaning.

Edit: it's not very difficult but there are a couple of small parts you need to be careful with.

Put "clean Honda gx carb" into YouTube and you'll get any number of videos showing how to do it.

Take out the spark plug and stick a compressed air blower gun nozzle into the combustion chamber and give it a good blowout with compressed air. Put the plug back in and try starting it again.

You could try removing the spark plug and putting a teaspoon of petrol into the chamber, then insert plug and try if it kicks.
Worked for me with a chainsaw with carb issue last week, the single kick cleared the blockage.

Petrol has likely gunked up in carb.

You may get away with just draining and adding new petrol.

I find a spray of carb cleaner is great to wake these small engines up after a long nap, it disisolves any gunk it gets to, but you don’t have that.

There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to strip, clean, rebuild a small carb. I only do it an odd time so usually have a quick look at a video before I do it.

The only caution I’d urge if you are doing that is take care separating it as the gaskets can tear and that is pants when it happens.

Well iv drained all the petrol out via the nut under the carburettor. And stuck the compressor down where the spark plug goes. And refilled with new petrol.

I now have petrol pi##ing out from behind the carburettor . . . As quick as I'm pouring it in!!


Usually don't work on a Sunday . . .But did today as nothing else to do. Now I know why!


Any ideas now? (Other than use the shovle)!

Check you don't have any perished tubes. It you bend them slightly, you should see the cracks.

Float must be stuck down in the bowl..remove bowl and give all a good clean and refit.. possible there could be a bit of dirt under the needle the float operates,have a look at that too..

Nothing perished. Fresh enough mixer

I'll try thanks. But it looks like fuel is coming out between carburettor and engine . . .on the gasket. .would the compressor have damaged gasket ?

Yes that’s possible if not likely.

You could remove the carb and check.

Unlikely the compressor would have damaged gasket when all was bolted together..

Most likely blow off a connection

Has it got compression....some.of these struggle for cylinder lubrication as they run so slow
