Using HDMI lead causes TV to switch off.

Afternoon all. I wonder If anyone would have any idea what might cause this. I like to watch films on the laptop and I use a hdmi lead to watch on the tv. Recently (and from 2 different sites) it has caused the tv to switch itself off.

Everything seems fine by itself. TV works fine. Laptop works fine and when I connect the two with the hdmi lead it all works fine, until this issue while watching films. I don't think it's the sites I'm using either as I can still watch films on the laptop without issue.

    It's a strange one.

    Any ideas?

Are you sure the TV is going off, rather than it turning to another 'source' on the TV which is getting no signal and looking black? Probably silly but just in case. So try flicking the source button to move from hdmi1 to hdmi 2 etc

It's not actually turning off properly. The red power light flashes on and off and it won't respond to the remote. The only way to get it working again is to turn off the power and on again. (As far as I can see anyway.)
