    Hi All,

Just looking for info before I ring the planning department in Cork. Do I need planning for a bay window, I am thinking yes. I want to move the front of the living room window out level with the porch. The porch is part of the house since it was built in 2004. It would consist of a slate roof with a corner window or I can build a wall at the side instead of a corner window. Maybe this is not considered a bay window, it would be under the 2 square meters.

    Thanks

Planning required. It's a front extension which isn't a porch (the only type of front extension exempt from planning).

I was speaking with the planner, who has said I would require planning. Any idea how much an engineer would cost to do the drawing etc.

    Thanks

No idea. If it's just planning, he also has to factor in costs for newspaper notice, site maps etc. If you have no drawings of the house already he'll have to come out and survey it to draw it up.

If you're sure on the design and it's just a case of doing the drawings and application for you, it could be around €1,200-1,500.
