    Hi all,

Not sure if this is the best place to put this but just wondering if there is anyone on here who has done a bit of Indie Dj'ing (Joy Division, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine etc./perhaps some other stuff like punk, ska and Northern Soul) that could offer some insight into how one might start getting themselves a few gigs? Is there much demand out there from venues for people to play stuff from those kind of genres or is it a bit of closed shop.

    Thanks

The Thomas House up by Vicar Street would be a good place to start.
I was at a gig in Waterford in October where they were playing exactly that type of musical mix and it was packed - Was part of a festival.
Also entrance to Freebird records in Wicklow street has lots of posters for this - would be a good place to look for contacts.
Not sure how popular Joy Division or The Cure will be in the future though :)

A boardsie was meant to dj an indie set for our wedding. He had to cancel as it was snowing but I can look up his details and post back.

As in lack of demand or lack of people out there actually doing it?

Sweetie (or sweety) was the name of the guy on boards who was to do our wedding. Not sure if he is still going or not. Also, Claire beck and Ed Smith from today fm seem to do a lot of indie disco. You may be able to get in touch with them about the scene.
